Lease by the Right Honorable Henry, marquis of Dorchester, earl of Kingston, and William Colgrave and Henry Savage of London, gentlemen, to William Burnett of Staple Inn, London, gentleman, of the manor or lordship of Kneton, alias Kneeton, with its appurtenances in the county of York, and all these other lands and tenements in Kneeton and the parish of Middleton Tyas in the said county for the term of 41 years from 12 February last past; consideration: £450 in hand and a yearly rent of £120 (re-entry clause if the rent in arrears). If Burnett at any time within the term of the lease pay to the marquis £1500, then the said marquis shall convey to him the residue of a term of 500 years which he now has in the premise, and Colegrave and Savage shall convey to Burnett the inheritance of the premise. On dorse: a memorandum to the effect that by virtue of letters of attorney of even date appointing George Barkars and Thomas Buttery attorneys for the marquis, William Colegrave and Henry Savage, George Barkars did on the 25th of September 1655 enter into and upon one parcell of ground called the Leasefield part of the premisses within mentioned and there did deliver this present indenture or writing indented to the within named William Burnett.
